- The new map data will be detected automatically by your vehicle
- A prompt will appear asking to begin the update
- Start the update and follow on-screen instructions

šWhat is an Activation code and why do I need it?
An FSC (Freischaltcode) is a digital activation code required by BMW to unlock software updates and features. Codes are unique to your carās VIN and required for navigation data to be installed.
We supply LIFETIME codes which permanently activate your head unit to accept all future updates without the need for another activation code! Free updates for the life of the vehicle.

Older navigation systems often split Europe into East and West, while newer versions usually cover the whole continent as one map. The guide below explains each region:
Europe
Western, Central and most Southern European countries have full detail; UK & Ireland, France, Germany, Spain & Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, Greece, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City
Europe (West)
This region includes countries with full coverage such as Andorra, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK .
It also offers partial coverage for Greece and Poland, and main road coverage for countries like Albania, Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine.Ā
Europe (East)
This region provides full coverage for countries including Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Romania, San Marino, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and Vatican City.Ā

Q. Will this fix my navigation?
A.Ā In some cases an update will fix issues with your navigation if you have data/FSC related errors, if your navigation is not functional, seek professional advice before attempting to update.Ā
Q. Will this update affect other iDrive functions?
A. No, only navigation data will be updated, iDrive software remains unchanged.
Q. Will this add new features to my navigation?
A.Ā Features are controlled by the car specification and/or active BMW subscriptions!
Q. How do I get speed limits to show?
A.Ā Your car requires extra hardware for speed limit info to show, if it currently doesn't show them chances are you don't have the required optional extra installed! Emulators can be installed for certain models.
Q. How do I get traffic to show?
A.Ā Your car requires an extra subscription for traffic data to show. View your available subscriptions within the MyBMW app for more info.
Q. Can one USB update multiple BMW vehicles?
A. Yes, if those cars share the same navigation version. Separate FSC codes are required for each car. You can order more FSC codes HERE
Q. Is it safe to drive while the update is installing?
A. Yes, driving is permitted the update will continue in the background.
Q. Can I turn off my car during the update?
A. It is always best to leave the engine running and update in one session to avoid any data issues during/after the update.

Q. Can I get my update delivered quickly?
A. We recommend upgrading to 'Tracked 24' at checkout for the most efficient delivery, 'Tracked Standard' deliveryĀ usually takes 2-3 days to arrive after dispatch, however this isn't guaranteed and often takes up to 7 working days. We also offer 'Guaranteed next day before 1pm' at an extra cost for those in need of a rapid delivery.
